DO WANT:
- Any and all canonmates, always. Yep, all of 'em. Any canon point - just specify so I can get in the right headspace for it!
- Shipping: Strong preference for Lucifer, in all circumstances. Also more than willing to do shippy stuff with any of her canonical romance interests - Jed, Dan, Marcus/Cain. Cross-canon stuff I'm a little iffier on - if you really want to do something, let me know and I'll consider it.
- Smut: Sure! I'm open to lots of stuff (see below for my no-nos). With Lucifer specifically, I'm totally down for like... straight up monsterfucking if you wanna. (Though that'd probably take some CR development to work up to, which is also great). Wing kink is love. And just regular ole vanilla sex.
- Cross-canon: I'm particularly down for mashing up Lucifer with other, similar genres/canons. So anything with a police procedural bent, and/or anything with an occult/celestial beings sort of vibe. Urban fantasy sorts of canons tend to work best, and like... AUs of medieval fantasy characters, as well as OCs! These can all be fun mashups! John Constantine, please?
- Tropes: Love gen, love developing friendships (especially female friendships), love fluff, hurt/comfort, smut, angst, drama, random slice-of-life stuff.

DO NOT WANT:
- I'm mostly not interested in doing any really wacky AUs or jamjar-type situations. Multiverse stuff is fine (technically Lucifer is part of the extended DC multiverse anyway), but I'm not interested in putting Chloe in a medieval fantasy setting or whatever.
- Smutty no-nos: Rape, underage, scat/watersports, vore, cannibalism, blood play, breath play. Most other things are negotiable.

comments

Defender
|
The Defender personality type is quite unique, as many of their qualities defy the definition of their individual traits. Though sensitive, Defenders have excellent analytical abilities; though reserved, they have well-developed people skills and robust social relationships; and though they are generally a conservative type, Defenders are often receptive to change and new ideas. As with so many things, people with the Defender personality type are more than the sum of their parts, and it is the way they use these strengths that defines who they are.

First Impressions
|
At first blush, Chloe Decker comes across as practical, no-nonsense, and somewhat reserved. In her capacity as a homicide detective, she takes her job very seriously, and is usually a consummate professional. She tends to keep her feelings to herself, and isn't terribly quick to open up to new people about her past, her personal life, etc. She is often every inch the "responsible one".

Motivations
|
For anyone who manages to dig a little deeper, Chloe's innate good nature quickly shines forth. She's a woman with a lot of compassion and empathy, and she takes her job seriously because she truly believes she's doing good in the world. Every crime scene breaks her heart a little, and every murder victim is a person whose life was taken from them unfairly, with loved ones who deserve justice. She has a commitment to finding out the truth of any situation, even if it's not necessarily in her own best interest, even if it's difficult to swallow. This is true for her not just in her job, but also her personal life, and she demands mutual honesty, openness and trust from those she loves. However, her need for evidence and proof can sometimes make for a stumbling block when things get weird in her life - she spent a very long time making excuses and justifications for why and how Lucifer was able to do such wacky things, and accepting the truth about him was very difficult for her.

Emotional
|
Though she plays things close to the chest, Chloe is a deeply emotional and passionate person. When she commits, whether it's to a career path or a person, she does so completely. She has faith in people, in their ability to change for the better, and this sometimes leads her to disappointment. She's also quite capable of letting loose and having fun, with the right influences in her life, anyway. Though she's less of a party girl and more low-key in what she finds entertaining. She is occasionally insecure in her relationships and worries that she gets far more invested than others. Chloe is, ultimately, a good soul who wants to help people, and also sometimes likes to shoot them.

Description
|
Chloe is at first glance attractive - perhaps not glamorous, though she certainly can be when she tries, but pretty in an All-American, girl-next-door kinda way that would've put her squarely in that category in her early 20s movie career. She has dark blonde hair and rather striking blue eyes that she's not afraid to level at suspects in a steely glare that will put them on their back feet. Her height is, frankly, pretty average - she's not especially short, nor is she strikingly tall. She wears some makeup while on the job, but it's minimal, usually attempting a more-or-less "natural" look. Her hair is kept pulled back most of the time while she's working, in either some kind of ponytail or bun. Her wardrobe consists of skinny pants/jeans, solid color blouses, conservative blazers/jackets and sensible brown ankle boots - she doesn't necessarily scream "cop" while on the job, but she takes care to generally look put together and professional, and able to move and run as needed. Off the job, she tends to let her hair down - literally, lets it just kind of do its thing in waves around her shoulders. She usually keeps her clothes comfortable, trading her blouses and blazers for t-shirts or maybe something with a cute print. When she needs to (or wants to), she can certainly dress up very well, and knows how to show off her assets to good advantage in a short skirt (she has great legs and she knows it). She rarely wears any kind of perfume, so usually she just smells like whatever shower soap she uses, and maybe deodorant.

</details>

Miracle child

Chloe Decker was born in the mid-80s, the only child of John Decker (a cop with the LAPD) and Penelope Decker (a semi-famous star of cheesy sci-fi B-movies). Her parents had difficulty conceiving, and unbeknownst to her until very recently, her birth only came about as a result of divine intervention - ordained by God, the angel Amenadiel was sent to bless her parents, resulting in Chloe's miraculous birth.

Despite this miracle birth, Chloe's childhood was relatively normal - apart from the fact that her mother pushed her into acting at an early age. Nonetheless, there was nothing particularly traumatic or terrible about her childhood. She had parents who doted on her (and loved each other), she went to auditions and spent a lot of time on movie sets, got into arguments with her mother for being overbearing, pretty bog standard stuff.

As a teenager, Chloe's acting career started to kind of take off, and at age 19, she got her first starring role in a teen sex comedy called Hot Tub High School, not exactly Oscar-bait, and her biggest claim to fame was a topless scene she did. Still, though, things were looking up for her professionally.

Tragedy

Within weeks of the release of Hot Tub High School, however, Chloe's father John was killed on duty, turning her world upside-down. Feeling adrift after the tragedy, Chloe quit acting and bounced from job to job for a while. Ultimately, however, she realized that what she wanted to do with her life was help prevent other families from being torn apart like hers had been. She wanted to be a cop like her dad.

Her first day on the job, she met Dan Espinoza, whom she would quickly fall in love with and marry. Within a couple of years, they had a daughter together, Trixie. Chloe was very good at her job, and by about 2012 she was able to get promoted to homicide detective on the back of a couple of relatively high-profile cases that she helped solve.

In 2014ish, still relatively new in her position as a detective, Chloe became suspicious of another detective, Malcolm Graham, believing he might be on the take. This led to her following him, and witnessing him being gunned down in the middle of some kind of shady deal, leaving him in a coma for months. Chloe became a pariah among the other detectives at the precinct, since she was investigating Malcolm - she was a snitch, a narc, turned on one of her fellow officers. No one would work with her, and in addition to all this, her marriage with Dan was on the rocks and they separated.

The Devil you know...

Into this mess, dropped the body of a pop singer, Delilah, gunned down in front of a high-end Hollywood nightclub called Lux. And, along with it, dropped the eccentric owner of said nightclub, Lucifer Morningstar. Despite (or perhaps because of) Chloe's resistance to Lucifer's rather unrelenting charms, the weird but attractive playboy seemed fascinated by her, and also kept interfering in her case until she finally agreed to take him along and follow a lead he'd dug up. They solved the case together, and when Chloe was shot, Lucifer saved her life. After that, he started inserting himself into her cases until eventually he got himself a position as an official civilian consultant for the LAPD - and Chloe's new partner.

Despite his eccentricities (and ability to frustrate and sometimes infuriate her), Lucifer did in fact prove himself to be a fantastic partner - his intuition and ability to draw out people's desires coupled with her skills as an investigator made them an almost unbeatable team. Almost despite herself, Chloe found herself liking Lucifer, even considering him a friend. She just kinda ignored his whole "I'm the Devil" thing. After Lucifer saved Chloe and her daughter from Malcolm Graham, and finally helped her close the Palmetto street case, she perhaps even found herself falling for him.

The two spent the next couple of years working together, and also dancing around their feelings for each other, getting just so close, then backing away for one reason or another. Things finally came to a head when Lieutenant Marcus Pierce (aka Cain, history's first murderer and a cursed immortal) killed an assistant DA, Charlotte Richards, and forced Chloe and Lucifer to go rogue to track him down. They survived, Pierce wound up dead - and Chloe finally realized the truth about Lucifer - that he really was the Devil. It took her some time to come to grips with this new reality, and she stumbled along the way - after all, it's kind of overwhelming to learn the guy you're in love with is the immortal embodiment of evil. Finally, they have managed to get their shit together enough to be a "real couple" - now they just have to learn how to be in a relationship together, and Chloe has a lot of learning to do about celestials.

</details>

Detectiving
|
Chloe is, for all intents and purposes, a baseline human with no special powers, supernatural or otherwise. However, that doesn't mean she lacks abilities, and as a homicide detective, she puts many of them to good use. She is very clever and incredibly observant, often picking up on details that most other people would miss. She's tenacious and methodical in her hunt for the truth, and is good at looking at a situation from every possible angle, developing theories and testing them with an almost limitless supply of patience. She has an extremely well-developed bullshit meter, so it's really hard to put one over on her (unless it's something she really doesn't want to know about - she can certainly be selective in what she sees and hears if something is really weird or frightening). She's learned to trust her gut, but also follow hard facts and evidence to find the truth.

Combat
|
Again, nothing super powered or supernatural here, but Chloe is a first-rate marksman (she's shown able to shoot a suspect standing behind Lucifer without hitting him), and she is familiar with self-defense techniques, allowing her to grapple with suspects physically when need be. She's also trained herself to defend others - she's shown on multiple occasions putting herself physically between innocent people and danger, and she doesn't startle easily - she's very good at staying calm in some pretty intense situations, including things like having an active bomb nearby.

Mojo Immunity
|
The only thing Chloe has that could be considered supernatural (or divine) in origin is very specific to Lucifer - it is immunity to his desire "mojo". Whether because of her miraculous birth (or simply because God wanted it to be so), Chloe is literally the only human being who isn't affected by Lucifer's powers. What this means on a practical level isn't simply that he can't draw out her desires the way he can with other humans. It means that on a base, fundamental level, she is able to see Lucifer for who he really is, rather than as an extension of her own desires. She sees the real Lucifer, in a way no one else ever has, or could. The good, the bad and the ugly of Lucifer are all laid bare to her in a very unique way that ultimately forms the bedrock of their relationship. She is the only human who is capable of loving Lucifer as himself - though her love for him wasn't manufactured. Just the capability of it.

</details>

<details>

relationships

Lucifer

Partner, friend, and most recently lover, Chloe has seen many facets of Lucifer's personality over the years, both good and bad. That she's still with him is a testament to the strength of their bond. Chloe believes fundamentally that Lucifer is a good person who deserves love, and she trusts him with her life on a regular basis. Weird as it may seem, given who and what he is, she has complete faith in him.

Trixie Espinoza

Chloe's daughter is bright, clever and affectionate, and the center of her world. She would never claim to be a perfect mother, but she loves Trixie fiercely and always tries to do her best by her. Chloe is consistently in awe of how amazing her kid is.

Dan Espinoza

Chloe's ex-husband and Trixie's father, Dan continues to play an important role in Chloe's life. Their romance may have fizzled out a long time ago, but that doesn't mean Chloe doesn't still care about Dan deeply. He's a good guy, a good dad, and Chloe considers him a friend.

Ella Lopez

Ella is not only an incredible forensics tech, but an incredible human being. She's the friend Chloe knows will always have her back, whether she needs a shoulder to cry on, or some dating advice, or just someone to come out and have a few drinks with her. And there's nothing quite like an Ella Lopez Hug (tm).

Linda Martin

Linda is a therapist, which is probably why she slots so easily into the "mom friend" category in Chloe's friend group. Combined with the fact that she knows Lucifer's true nature (since she's his therapist) means that she's often uniquely qualified to help Chloe with her various Lucifer-related difficulties (and other celestial nonsense). Chloe considers Linda one of the strongest, toughest people she knows.

Mazikeen

Maze is a demon (literally). She also lived with Chloe for several years, and Chloe considers her a friend, on the whole. She's close with Trixie, and babysat her fairly often. Their relationship is a bit rocky, given Maze's tendency to lash out destructively whenever Lucifer hurts her feelings (which is relatively often). Chloe knows, however, that Maze would never directly harm herself or Trixie.

Amenadiel

Amenadiel is Lucifer's brother, and while Chloe met him pretty early in her partnership with Lucifer, they never really interacted much until quite recently, after she learned Lucifer's true nature (and thus, also Amenadiel's). Chloe has gotten to know him a lot more in recent months, however, and has a generally positive opinion of him. He's kind, compassionate, and gives great advice when she needs it.

Lucifer's twin brother, Michael, is the polar opposite of Amenadiel. He's slimy, manipulative and frankly, a dick. Among other things, he's tried to sleep with her under false pretenses, kidnapped her, and generally tried to wreck her relationship with Lucifer. No bueno.

Chloe is 1. a cop and 2. from a canon in which Christian concepts such as Heaven and Hell, God and the Devil, angels and demons, are all real. I'm aware that these topics can be upsetting/a non-starter for some people, and as such, I totally understand if you need to opt-out of tagging with Chloe. Just drop me a note via PM to let me know, and I'll always honor such requests.

If you want to discuss Chloe's job with her in-depth, please be aware that as a homicide detective, she has Seen Some Shit, and some potentially triggering topics may come up - things like suicide, drug use, human trafficking, etc etc. I won't have her go into all the gory details of her cases usually (and the show itself is basically PG-13) but if there's a topic you need me to avoid altogether, please drop me a line so I can do so.
